new directions...

After a longer than expected break from my blog, I am currently working behind the scenes to update its appearance.  I have spent some time preparing for the new directions I am now pursuing with my work both in the studio and online, and look forward to returning...

working towards an exhibition...

 needlework flower brooches

It is less than four weeks now until my upcoming exhibition.  Thank you to my family for their support, patience and understanding of the work involved, every day.  Spring has begun and it is helping me to see my pieces come to life after planning and working throughout Autumn and Winter.

Textile art brooches in progress, ready to be stitched together and awaiting buttons to be found for their centres; and then the finished pieces with beaded centres instead of buttons.  A decision I feel looks a lot nicer...but is a lot more time consuming!

The brooches will be pinned to a dress in the gallery, a romantic whimsy, to celebrate the beauty of colour, flowers, and springtime, in what is my most favourite of the seasons...

an online journal...

wattle flowers and glory vine leaf

Welcome to my new online journal which will be a place to share my artwork, as well as beautiful and interesting things which inspire me.  I have a diverse and eclectic array of interests and hope you enjoy browsing through these things too.

Winter has started here now and I have taken some cuttings from the garden to bring inside and arrange on the table in my studio.  There is always something beautiful in nature to inspire me...
