In an introduction to the printmaking studio we experimented with transfer printing by hand, and drypoint printing using an etching press.  The above prints are of a bird image, printed from an acetate sheet, experimenting with the use of ink for different effects.  I thoroughly enjoyed the printmaking workshop and will definitely want to learn more techniques throughout my degree. Clouds are one of my favourite things, especially when they are lovely and fluffy and white, and the sky is bright blue behind them.  A lot of my daydreaming time is spent looking up at the sky...taking in the feeling of space, the known, the unknown, stretching out forever...thinking about how amazing this universe is...or not thinking about anything at all... The first step to getting organised with my studies from last year has been to sort all diaries, notes, exhibition catalogues, photocopies, photographs, assignments, essays...into one big pile to work through.  It is now time to recheck what I learned last year, put it in the appropriate diary or folder, and file neatly away in my bookshelf to be easily found for future reference.  Lesson learnt

Red was the theme chosen for this week, and while I thought it would be quite straightforward to do, it didn't really turn out that way at all...  After much experimentation, finally seven photos have been finalised.  I will now be showing one featured image (some of my vintage books, above) and cropped views of the other six images from the project each week.  I am enjoying also experimenting

Today I have been making marks with needle and thread, using one strand of black embroidery floss on a piece of calico to create a small sampler of ideas.  Early last year I enjoyed making some textile collages that included pieces of hand embroidery drawing in them and will share some of those in a future post...
